All non-domestic properties in England, Scotland and Wales were re-valued for the 2017 Rating List with the new values coming into effect on the 1st April 2017.
For properties in England, this also meant the introduction of the Check, Challenge & Appeal system.
This new system has introduced new processes for both the ratepayer and their agent. Check Challenge Appeal could save your business thousands of pounds a year.
All business premises details such as building specification, square footage and tenure information held by the Valuation Office must be confirmed.
The proposed rateable value and all supporting evidence can be submitted in order to challenge the current rates.
Once the decision from the challenge has been received an appeal can then be lodged. This final stage is managed by the Valuation Tribunal Service.
